Contemplations of a Smoker

Wow, two photo shoots in one week! I know my last one was very wild and colorful, but for this one I say: Away with color! Embrace the black and white in life!

 

This shoot was actually a vision of mine and my friend M.J.S. very kindly volunteered to bring this vision to life, and boy did she nail it! I'm not sure what gave me the inspiration, but I find that the times I am most inspired are usually when I am in the shower or bath. I also enjoy the occasional cigarette while soaking in the tub, submersed in my deepest and most creative thoughts. Anyway, enough of my rambling. Getting in Touch with the Animal Inside

Hello peoples!
This photoshoot I did at the request of a friend, Miss M.J.S. The theme was animals. You will recognize two models in this shoot that I have done pictures for (Miss M.J.S. and Miss A.W.) and a new model (Miss C.G.). My friend M.J.S. was a lioness, A.W. was a fish (Regal Tang) and C.G. was a bird (Macaw). M.J.S wanted it to look animal, but not so much that it overshadowed the people and she wanted only profile shots so that's what we did! Also, along with taking the pictures, I did the makeup for our fish and our Macaw. M.J.S. did the hair. The pictures turned out fantastic and I hope you enjoy them!

Finally! A photoshoot!

Hello viewers! Well, I finally did another photo shoot! It was for M.J.S, a previous model of mine and she asked if I could do the shoot for a vision she had. It was just a fun, quick shoot and the pictures turned out really well! She was hoping for a Halloween/ dark kind of feel to it.

And if any of you question the placement of the pictures, that was not a mistake, that's where she wanted them and I purposely highlighted it for that reason. Anyway, enjoy :)

A Day at the Lake

Hello veiwers! So, our trip to California was cancelled due to some difficulties, but we did do a day at Saguaro Lake in order to still have some girl time. I've never swam in a lake and it was positively disgusting.  I suppose I'm spoiled with cholrine and clear water.  The lake was beautiful though. Of course, I took plenty of pictures of my lovely girlfriends.
I have found some form of photoshop I do enjoy.  It's where you make a picture black and white, then isolate one part of that picture with the color it was.  I don't know what the technical term for that is, but I still enjoy it none-the-less.  Here are the pictures I experimented with: (with my new photography signature)

Oh Arizona, shall I compare thee to the surface of the sun?

I hate the summer. Here in Arizona, it is a very dry time for my photography. Even inside, it's too hot to simply do an hour long photoshoot with hot lights and difficult poses.  Luckily, it's getting closer to fall and I hope to get some shoots done as soon as possible.  I am going to college in August (MCC) as are my models, so the busy-ness of it all should prove a little more challenging to get them to accept my requests for shoots.  Who knows, I might even get different models too.  Only time will tell.
I am also going to California the beginning of August with a group of friends so I will definitely be bringing my camera and taking pictures of the beach as often as I can.  I might even get my friends to pose a little. Either way, I will have pictures I will post up after that trip. So long my viewers, whomever you are. I will post as soon as I can!

Taking Pictures and Getting Paid

Hello my viewers! I received a lovely new 55mm (portrait) lens from my father for Christmas and i had been very eager to use it. Luckily, one of my friends came to me and offered to pay me to take her senior pictures! I was, of course, thrilled, and the shoot went very well and her pictures turned out beautifully. Hello peoples!
I know I have been quite disappointing it the whole "photography" department...NO MORE! Yes, I do have a photoshoot tomorrow, thank you for asking. It will be of one of my favorite models Miss J.B. and the shots will be both yoga and face shots. We're practicing with backdrops and black and white so expect the pictures to be so!
It should be very exciting considering I have my new camera and I have not yet used it to photograph people. It should be awesome (at least, it better be considering the price of the camera). Well, that is all for now, I do not have a picture for this post today and due to some technical difficulties of my main computer, I cannot guarantee as to when the pictures will be posted; just know they will be.
I also have another photoshoot of my other amazing model, Miss A.W. With her permission, I might also put her pictures on here. Stay wary, and barre with me. My photography genius shan't be much longer now.

The End of the Weekend

Unfortunately, my models cancelled on me last minute and I was not able to do the shoot at the Temple. Well, I shouldn't dwell. I did, however, take some pictures this weekend that I will just post up for now so you guys aren't completely disappionted.

The Excuse and the Rant

Hello lovely viewers. I really have nothing extremely important to say...I just thought I'd write a little something as an excuse to show off some pictures of mine that I thought were good, but there weren't enough of them to make a seperate page.

This next Friday I will be doing a shoot, so that will be exciting. I'm doing it at the Arizona Temple, which is awesome because it's a beautiful place and they don't get mad at you for just taking pictures there, but it's so usual. Everyone has pictures at the Temple or the MAC, I want a new place, something unusual. However, for what I want to do, it is perfect.

I'm thinking of finding that unusual place; besides, what's so interesting about taking pictures of the same thing? That's not the point of photography, that's not the point of art...it's supposed to be unusual. Unexpected. Unreal. That's why people enjoy art. It's not what we're used to and, despite the fact that we are creatures of habit, habit can prove to be boring sometimes.

So, that is my rant of the day. Next week I will finally give you something to look at, but for now, enjoy what I give you to read.

2011! Happy New Years

Happy New Years my readers! It's the time where everyone can start fresh and make new year's resolutions. Frankly, I have made no resolutions this year and I have done a wonderful job at keeping them. I am very pleased.

I have not been able to use my new camera for a formal shoot since I received it and I have been going insane! Fortunately, thanks to the grace of my friends, I will be doing a shoot next weekend; and, with their permission, putting the pictures on here as soon as the memory on my card transfers to the hard drive of this incessently slow computer. Never fear though! As slow as this piece of junk may be, I always find a way and hope you view the new pictures I put up and enjoy them as much as I enjoy taking them.

Well, I hope everyone has a happy new year and continues to view this blog and bare with me when I don't get pictures on right away. I appreciate you all, my viewers!

It's Beginning to Look Nothing like Christmas...

Hey people who most likely don't read this blog...I, being in school, have had a very busy semester and have, oddly enough, not done any photo shoots at all! I know...very out of the ordinary for me. Luckily, I received an early Christmas present last week...a new camera!!!! It's my first DSLR. Nikon, of course, and it's a D5000. Yes, I am very excited. I have not taken many pictures, but I will get on my photo shoots and post them on as quickly as possible.

Oh! and I cant forget today is Christmas :). I hope all of you are enjoying your holidays and I hope you continue to read my photography blog.

I'm back! Ready for a new year and armed with...absolutely nothing.

Hey peoples! I did absolutely nothing over the summer and quite enjoyed it, but no more! I still have several shoot ideas, one of which is happening very soon, and I also have a project to do for a friend on September 18...so im excited for that. I'm also back in school so i'll have to be focusing on that mainly, but everything will be done in good time.
Wait my patient folk...and all will be well.

Time to clear off the Memory Card

Well, my hopes for doing a photo shoot this summer quickly changed with the weather. As it became hotter, I became less inclined to do shoots. I have ideas though, eight to be exact, and I already have models waiting to be photographed. I think I'm going to wait for the weather to get cooler though, it will be best then. Monsoon season is coming up, lots of wind and rain...the skies will be overcast and that's always good :). Maybe I'll do one then. The wind is also always a plus, especially for models with long hair. Cant wait!

What to do, what to do...

Well, its been about 4 weeks since school got out and may I safely say that I am starting to become bored. Dont get me wrong, the lack of school work is fantastic, but the lack of human interaction is driving me crazy.

I havent done a shoot in a long time. I've been talking about doing one for a while with one of my friends/models, and I'm thinking about just getting it done. I also have another shoot I've discussed and planned, I just havent gotten around to doing it. I feel bad for that...due to a lack of rides, and since I cannot drive, it has been hard schedualing shoots. Hopefully, everything will work out as planned and I will be able to do alot of shoots.

The slow start will end with a hectic bang!

At least I hope so...

Tis Summer

Ah! Summer is almost here! Even though the weather will be blazing, I'm hoping to still do as many shoots as I can. This would be a good time to get some summer shots in swimsuits and water! Lots and lots of water!

Hopefully I can get brighter, more colorful shoots to go with the happy summer feeling I get every year. Also, I'm hoping my models wont mind either, I wouldn't want them to melt in the summer sun D:
